Ancholme Mews in Brigg, Lincolnshire was opened by British TV legend Wendy Craig in a lavish ceremony on Saturday 26 July attracting widespread media attention.
The event, which was attended by Brigg Town Mayor Mike Campion and his wife, Mayoress Ann Campion, saw Wendy cut the golden ribbon to officially declare the development on Bigby Street open.
Speaking as she opened Ancholme Mews, Wendy said: “The apartments are beautiful. They're set in a very nice place near the shops and transport - everything people want when they retire.”
The star of hit TV shows such as ‘The Royal’ and ‘Butterflies’ also discussed her own experiences of moving to a more manageable home and spoke of the change in lifestyle she now enjoyed.
“I was heartbroken when I moved because I had a lot of memories. We had so many wonderful times bringing the children up there. But someone said to me 'your memories are not in the house, they're in your head and you can take them with you'.
“It really was a very good move. My life is calmer and there's no stress of a big house," Wendy commented.
Guests at the opening were able to meet with Wendy before being given a tour of the show apartments, resident’s lounge, guest suite and taking in the beautiful landscaped gardens.
Trevor Walters Thompson, Managing Director of Golden Living, said: “The opening of Ancholme Mews was a resounding success, it was a great day enjoyed by everyone who attended.
“It was a pleasure to have Wendy and Brigg’s Town Mayor and Mayoress in attendence as the development was opened.”
Following the opening a number of the development’s 53 one and two-bedroom apartment’s have been reserved and several residents will be moving into their new properties shortly.
A great deal of serious interest has been expressed in the remaining properties at Ancholme Mews.
“Everyone who attended the opening really enjoyed the opportunity to speak to Wendy and to take a look around the development.
“A number of the guests were so impressed by the apartments that they reserved on the day and many others expressed a very real interest in the properties,” Mr Walter Thompson added.
Wendy Craig will be attending another Golden Living development opening as Roseberry Mews in Nunthorpe, Cleveland opens it doors on August 23.
