Woodford Land's development plans for the Sankey Bridges site on Saxon Park II in Warrington have been granted planning permission.
This will allow the development of 67 residential properties, a mix of one and two bedroom apartments and two and three bedroom houses, at the site which runs alongside the River Mersey.
Woodford is committed to the regeneration of the area and worked closely with Warrington Borough Council and other key stakeholders including the local community in the development of their proposals.
The plans include the provision of 15 residential units of affordable housing to meet local needs as well as adding a number of other benefits to the area.
A three meter high acoustic wall will be constructed to reduce the impact that noise from the Warrington Fabrications site has on existing dwellings on the nearby Liverpool Road.
Additionally Woodford Land will remediate an area of contaminated land on the site and improve its pedestrian, cycle and road links.
Jason Parkinson, Managing Director of Woodford Land, said: "It is excellent news that planning permission has been granted for the Sankey Bridges site. We liaised closely with the local community and the Borough Council to produce a development plan that would offer the greatest benefits possible."
A full consultation process was undertaken prior to the granting of planning permission including a public consultation meeting held in September 2007.
The development of the 3.5 acre site, formerly a vacant steelworks, is part of a substantial investment in the regeneration of the area.
Woodford Land, part of Woodford Group PLC, is one of the leading experts in brownfield land remediation in the UK.
The company recently announced plans for a brand new website to showcase their land bank of brownfield sites for sale and to act as a contact point with the company for anyone interested in buying or selling brownfield land.
